It was another early morning for royal watchers in the US! Trooping the Colour started at 11:00 am in London which meant 6 am here on the East coast.
I have to be honest, I had a late night so I was just planning on catching the pictures later this morning along with some video recaps. I didn’t set an alarm but, somehow I found myself up at 6:15. I think my internal clock is set to all things royal!
Here is a brief overview of what happens during Trooping the Colour:
“During the ceremony, the Queen is greeted by a Royal salute and carries out an inspection of the troops. After the massed bands have performed a musical ‘troop’, the escorted Regimental Colour is carried down the ranks. The Foot Guards and the Household Cavalry then march past Her Majesty, and The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, rank past. The Queen rides in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of her Guards, before taking the salute at the Palace from a dais. The troops then return to barracks. Her Majesty then joins other members of the Royal Family on the palace balcony for a fly-past by the Royal Air Force.”
This information was found at The Household Division website.
All members of the British Royal Family were in attendance except the Wessexes. They are attending the Swedish royal wedding!
Today was also a very special day for a reason other than the Queen… Prince George made his very first Trooping the Colour appearance! I have some great photos for you!
This is the first time we have seen Duchess Catherine since she gave birth to Princess Charlotte over a month ago! She stunned in Catherine Walker’s “Astrid” coat and a Lock & Co hat.
Kate rode in a carriage with Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Here is a picture of the guest of honor, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip.
Prince William, Prince Charles and Princess Anne rode on horseback.
Our first glimpse of George was of him in a window of Buckingham Palace being held by Nanny Maria. He was looking out at the crowds and watched as his mummy and daddy left.
George proved to be quite the character! He was seen laughing, waving and sticking his tongue out. It was not said where Princess Charlotte was, but my money is that her grandma Carole kept her!
Isn’t he adorable? It seems that he has inherited his Uncle Harry’s playful side!
I bet George is so much fun at home! Kate and William probably can’t get enough!
The picture above is thanks to Chris Jackson with Getty Images. He does great coverage on the royals and his pictures are fantastic!
They watched above as planes flew by leaving red, white, and blue lines in the sky.
This appearance also marked the first time the Queen has been present with three future Kings. Look at George pointing! 🙂
Here is a short recap of all the events!
Prince George also had an outfit change from when we saw him in the window earlier. He is wearing the exact same outfit that his daddy wore at Trooping the Colour in 1984.
Here are side-by-side images of George and William at his first TTC.
I think George is shaping up to look like Kate. He does favor William a little but I see A LOT of his mum in him! Especially that thick, wavy hair!
Just to give you an idea… this is what the royals were on the balcony looking out at!
What a great day it was!! I hope you enjoyed looking at all the pictures! More posts to come next week on Princess Charlotte’s baby pictures and more! Have a great weekend! 🙂
