As with many other events, be it a birth or tour, many royal watchers were up in the wee hours of the morning to catch a glimpse of William and Kate arrive in Mumbai for their week-long tour of India and Bhutan.
William and Kate arrived around 10:30 a.m. local time off a commercial British Airlines overnight flight. Their royal motorcade escorted them to the hotel they will be staying at. It is The Taj Mahal Palace hotel. This is the same hotel that was the target of the 2008 terrorist bombings as well.
The hotel is absolutely breathtaking!
Thanks to all the Kate fashion sleuths, we were able to pinpoint exactly what she wore for her grand entrance. For the first outfit of the tour, Kate chose a bespoke ensemble by none other than one of her favorites, British fashion house Alexander McQueen.
Here is a closer look:
This look is inspired by McQueen’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection. It has been altered for Kate with some modifications and adjustments. Here is the look from the collection:
She also chose to accessorize with her “Temple of Heaven” earrings, a new Russell and Bromley clutch and new LK Bennett pumps.
After they arrived, they laid a wreath in memory of the people who lost their lives in 2008 at the hotel when it was bombed.
Will and Kate then had some time to freshen up from a long flight. I still don’t know how Kate manages to look that good after traveling on a red-eye flight. It is a modern mystery!
After freshening up, Will and Kate traveled to the Oval Maidan, a large outdoor park, to meet local children. Being the athletes that they are, of course they participated in the fun!
Kate changed into an Anita Dongre tunic dress and Monsoon Wedges. What a gorgeous, ethereal look!
Sitting on the sidelines is never in Kate’s repertoire. Despite wearing a dress and wedges, Kate played cricket with the children of a local charity and even participated in some training.
I don’t know how she does it!
We can’t forget Wills!
The cool couple. Both Will and Kate were wearing Ray Ban wayfarer sunglasses, which made for a sporty look.
After finishing up at Oval Maidan, the couple headed back to the hotel where they prepared for a private gala where they rubbed elbows with some of Bollywood’s biggest stars.
Kate chose another favorite designer for her evening wear – Jenny Packham. Jenny Packham’s dresses are always beautiful and the Duchess seems to love wearing them since we have seen her in at least five of her gowns.
Here is an up-close look:
Here is a look at the menu of the gala. What a spread!
Kate chose an elegant, sophisticated updo for the night. Isn’t it gorgeous? Her hairdresser is something else!
Kate accessorized with beautiful Amrapali drop earrings. Aren’t they exquisite?
